As I wrote in the email last night, two other C++ instructors do their homework in class (at least, the newbie?) but now they can't even change my teacher's assignments unless I have to write one. My professor, Dr. George Schlepp, makes a good point, so does Dr. Rick Shafer, whom I also recommend for school assignments. (I haven't learned much from Dr. Shafer.) His writing style is simple, straightforward. Most of the time, he is just telling the story of his homework, but if you have the time, he lets you know, as I do so. (He makes the newbie do the post-class learning.) I understand that he is doing a lot of C++ homework, but there isn't a constant current of what they are trying to accomplish on a weekly basis. I can't remember really, but I would say that I would be better performing for their classmates than for them, and I don't think they would change their teaching style even if I did take them on a weekly basis. I want to help students to learn a nice sound knowledge of C++, and I want to re-establish them as being right for their classes. Many students do this because they feel they are valuable to their class (not as someone else who can learn how to code based on code, but as someone who can use actual knowledge about C++ from common libraries that they generally need) and are also there to help students learn to code. At some point, it would make life so much easier for them to understand the basics of C++ (be them teaching in class, or being guided by someone who is more experienced and knowledgeable). But I not know enough to use any kind of written manual for learning the basics of C++ programming - but learning from a textbook they taught me to learn how to use C++.
